Field: Sample preparation chemistry development
Description:  Optimize surface coatings of silicone devices to prevent non-specific adsorption of DNA/ proteins. Developing a process for inkjet patterning of reagents, and lyophilizing (freeze-drying) reagents into microfluidic chips. In addition, developing scalable bonding process that are compatible with the surface chemistry and reagent patterning techniques above.

Primary skills required:  expertise in surface chemistry, reagent lyophilizing optimization (freeze-drying), microfluidics, reagent patterning, ink jet printing of DNA and proteins, fluorescence imaging skills, molecular biology, PCR, isothermal amplification, patenting, and grant writing.
